Inverness Middle School

The following programs celebrate learning through the arts. Program durations are flexible according to class schedules. Norms include 35 minutes for PreK-2 and 45-60 minutes for grades 3-12. Ideal audience size is 20-60, however entire grade levels are acceptable in order to accommodate as many children in the school population as possible.

Programs Include:

  • hands on and participatory components that engage curiosity, wonderment, and the desire to know more.
  • interdisciplinary and curriculum connections in science, particularly the science of sound, math, language arts, and social studies.
  • Florida benchmarks of FCAT and Sunshine State Standards

PreK-2
The Magic Flute: Stories including the Pied Piper, Peter and the Wolf, and Mozart's Magic Flute which introduce characters, sequence of story, and musical language.

Grades 3-5

Logistics:

Space Required: Large Classroom, media center or multi-purpose room

Number of Students per session: For optimum learning, 20-45 students per session. Assemblies are less effective. Assemblies for middle and high school of more than 75 students require an additional artist.

Donna Wissinger is an internationally recognized concert flutist and arts consultant. Her work is based on the premise that learning is an affair of the heart as well as the mind, and that the arts are an essential component of inspired life-long learning. Ms. Wissinger is a principal of Creative Leaps International, a premier Florida and Southern Arts Federation Touring Artist, and engaged as an Artist-in-the Schools nationwide. She is the inaugural recipient of the Doris Leeper Award for Excellence in Arts Education.
